‘The Lion of Central Asia’ by Francesca Cao is a body of work about the impact of the oil industry on certain parts of Central Asia. This work in particular interests me because of the contrast in wealth. Pictured above is Mrs Sampe who lives alone in a village because years ago everyone else moved to the ‘big city’.
